Anouk Alkema was born and raised on the island Texel in 1992. She spent several years studying to be a social worker specialising in addiction care. As part of her studies, she undertook an internship in South Africa, after which she spent three weeks in Sydney, Australia. It was here she met some awesome friends from Perth, Western Australia. One year later, after finishing her studies, she traveled to Perth to see her friends again. It was here that she became inspired to rediscover her creativity which had been hiding away for so long as she was studying. When she returned to Texel she reinvented her creativity again. And so here the journey began. Now she can proudly say she is a self taught artist making abstract paintings inspired by the ocean!
